Movidius Awarded Best IoT Technology Development for Myriad 2 Vision Processing Unit at IDTechEx 2016
On November 16th, 2016 , the IDTechEx Awards were held at the Santa Clara Convention Center, California. Movidius was present to proudly accept the Best IoT Technology Development of 2016 for it's Myriad 2 Vision Processing Unit (VPU)
Since 1999 IDTechEx has provided independent market research, business intelligence and events on emerging technology to clients in over 80 countries. The IDTechEX Show brings together over 3,000 attendees across all reaches of the tech sector, including: flexible electronics, energy harvesting, wearables and robotics. The awards in each category were selected from an independent panel of judges including technical leaders from the likes of Boeing, Google, Lockheed Martin, and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
Raghu Das, CEO of IDTechEx, stated "Performing under 1.2W of power means Myriad 2 can be deployed into tiny IoT devices such as smart cameras, drones and wearables, opening further opportunities for IoT applications and benefits for consumers."
Movidius VP of Marketing Gary Brown was on hand to accept the award: "We are thrilled our Myriad 2 Vision Processing Unit is being recognized by IDTechEx as the Best IoT Technology Development this year. As IoT devices from drones to security cameras to VR headsets require sophisticated machine vision algorithms sitting near the sensors, we have seen a huge need for performance efficiency, and we are confident Movidius' devices will continue to play a role in the rapid growth of IoT."
Other award winners included: Drayson Technologies for technical developments in energy harvesting, 24M for best technical development in energy storage, and Shockwave Motors for most significant innovation in electric vehicles.
