Applications.Bring it to life with Movidius

Technology Overview

A Flexible Architecture

Movidius' unique and propietary approach to multicore SoC design enables a broad range of applications to be developed that previously were not possible on a mobile platform.  While traditional processors featured dedicated hardware acceleration to perform particular tasks, Movidius have taken the approach of embedding 8 identical processing units capable of integer, floating point and vector processing.  Combined, this platform delivers 20GFLOPs of processing power, unheard of in a mobile device.

Super Low Power

So this must run at a high clock rate, 1GHz perhaps?  Not at all.  Revolutionary processor design enables the SoC to deliver this superior computational performance at a super low power. Movidius is focused on bringing complex applications to the mobile device within tight power budgets typical of battery powered devices.

Time to Market

Traditional methodologies suffer from the inflexibility of their SoC design as each accelerator that is instantiated can only perform certain tasks. Such systems must anticipate the algorithmic requirements of the future or redesign the hardware architecture. Equally IP approaches require a full SoC design cycle time of years whereas Movidius chips are available in volume for various applications today.

With a completely configurable architecture, Movidius can react rapidly to market demands for new technology to be implemented. No need to wait for costly silicon development cycles and endless respins, you can ramp your software development team on the product design immediately using the exisiting silicon platform.
