MA1133 Captures Mobile 3D HD Video/Images and Converts 2D Movies into 3D

The MA1133 brings high quality 3D dual camera capture of video and still image, 3D processing and 3D playback to the mobile device.  The MA1133 also provides the facility to create 3D user generated content direct from your smartphone or PMP device at HD 720p resolutions.

Movidius provides high quality 5MP/5MP dual camera capture, compensation for camera differences using the Movidius 3D rectification algorithms, advanced color balancing and the proprietary 3D convergence functions which match the depth of 3D to the capabilities of the display.  Users can watch real time 3D preview video on the display during preview mode as content is captured.

As user take-up of 3D technology increases there will initially be a shortage of 3D content to be played.  Now there is no longer any need to wait for 3D content to come your way – simply playback the 2D movie as 3D in real time through the MA1133.

Traditional 3D conversion solutions can suffer from poor matching of the content and the display field depth using convergence processing resulting in sub-standard 3D experience that leaves the user uncomfortable and often nauseous after prolonged viewing.  The Movidius 2D-to-3D conversion process uses a state-of-the-art automatic convergence algorithms carefully optimizing the 3D level to give the most exciting but comfortable user viewing experience

The MA1133 can be integrated into a broad range of power-sensitive mobile devices including 3D HD mobile phones, 3D PMPs, 3D PNDs, 3D notebook PCs, dongles and mini-cards.

A typical cellular platform integration is shown below where the MA1133 acts as a co-processor to the main system host processor and interfaces directly to the two camera modules. The multimedia performance of the mobile device can be dramatically enhanced without increasing the burden on the host processor.  The MA1133 can output HD video to an external HDMI driver chipset for playback on a 3D enabled TV.

Another benefit is to replace expensive high-power host processors with lower complexity devices and let the MA1133 do the multimedia functions to deliver an even more cost-effective solution.
