What is 3D?

First let's get our definitions straight. 3D is about creating the illusion of depth by combining 2 different images for the left and right eyes. Some objects in the image or video will appear to be in front of the screen (negative parallax) and some objects will appear to behind the screen (positive parallax).

3D display technology is advancing and those that require 3D glasses are called stereoscopic displays and those that do not require glasses are called auto-stereoscopic displays.
